In January 2023, William (Bill) and Marcus tragically lost their lives in a car accident on their way to hockey practice, leaving an immeasurable void in the hearts of their family, friends, and community. Bill was a devoted father, grandfather and dear friend to many, with a passion for aviation. Marcus was a kind-hearted, energetic young son and brother who loved hockey, lacrosse, and dirt biking. Their bond was unbreakable and they shared a deep love for their country.

Bill

Bill, affectionately known as “Pa” and “Poppy”, was a devoted father, grandfather, and aviation pioneer. From humble beginnings on a farm, he pursued his dream of flying, eventually becoming an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) and establishing Interstate Aviation Inc. at Robertson Airport in Plainville, CT. For nearly five decades, he mentored aspiring pilots, provided essential aviation services, and built a family legacy grounded in hard work, integrity, and love. His passion for music, family gatherings, and community service defined a life well lived. Poppy was the proud father of eight children, grandfather to eighteen grandchildren, and great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren, all of whom continue to cherish his legacy.

Marcus

Born with an adventurous spirit and a heart full of kindness, Marcus was a young man with a bright future ahead. A dedicated athlete and talented hockey and lacrosse player, known for his generosity, infectious laughter, and deep love for family. As a student at Oliver Wolcott Technical School, he was learning the electrical trade with hopes of running his father’s construction business while also dreaming of becoming a pilot. His unwavering ambition and compassionate heart made him a true inspiration to those around him. Marcus was a beloved brother to two sisters and two brothers, forming bonds of love and support that will never be forgotten.

Continuing The Legacy

To honor their legacy, proceeds from this event will support The William V. O’Leary & Marcus J. Rogers Legacy Foundation, providing grants and scholarships to aviation programs, vocational schools, and scholarships supporting youth sports leagues, hockey tuition, and trade school tools for aspiring electricians.
